Anatomical Pathologist - Christchurch

We are seeking an Anatomical Pathologist to be part of our network of Anatomical Pathologists working in our community and hospital laboratories throughout New Zealand. Each role is working as part of a team providing clinical delivery and service excellence through high quality diagnostic services to our client and patients.

Southern Community Laboratories is a division of Healthscope that has provided doctors and patients in New Zealand with pathology services since 1960. We are the largest provider of Pathology services and have laboratories throughout New Zealand.

The lab was newly built 7 years ago and provides services to private hospitals and general practices in the greater Canterbury region. The referrals are mainly skin, breast, gynecologic, urologic, ENT, and gastrointestinal samples, totalling approximately 35000 accessions per year. The pathologists also run a Fine Needle Aspiration clinic on rotation, so experience in FNA cytology is preferred.

Christchurch is known as the garden city, situated on the seaward side on the Canterbury plains. The plains themselves and the backdrop of the magnificent Southern Alps leave the city with an unrivalled outdoor playground on its doorstep, mountain biking, tramping and skiing are all close at hand.

We are seeking an experienced Anatomic Pathologist for our Christchurch lab however we also welcome applications from newly qualified pathologists who are seeking to establish their post-fellowship career in a supportive environment.

You will need to hold the Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia or a similar recognised postgraduate qualification and be eligible for registration as a Specialist Pathologist by the Medical Council of New Zealand.
