Labtests Auckland Limited is the provider of pathology services to the people of Auckland by way of our long term contract with the Auckland District Health Boards; providing pathology services to the patients of General Practitioners, Medical Specialists and midwives. This is predominantly done through our network of 58 collection centres and a state of the art laboratory situated in Mt Wellington.
We are currently seeking Pre Analytical Medical Laboratory Technicians (or Trainees) to work in the Specimen Services Department. Both fulltime (80 hours per fortnight) and part-time (20 hours per fortnight) positions are available.
In this Specimen Services role you will perform pre analytical checks on all patient samples, prior to these samples going through to the Core Laboratory for analysis (ie Haematology, Biochemistry, Haematology). You will be required to learn two laboratory computer systems.
The ideal applicant will be a qualified and registered Medical Laboratory Technician, or a Medical Laboratory Pre Analytical Technician with a qualification in Specimen Services. However, we would also consider applicants who are willing to work towards gaining the required qualification, following two years of training, and then becoming registered. For this you must have an aptitude and enthusiasm for health and science and have a minimum of NCEA Level 3 in Science, Maths and English with an eye for detail, plus accurate and fast keyboard skills.

You will be quality conscious, with a high degree of attention to detail yet competent in dealing with high volumes of work in a precise and timely manner.
