Mortuary Technician

Wellington SCL Limited is the provider of pathology and mortuary services to the people of Wellington and is owned by healthcare provider Healthscope NZ. Wellington Mortuary is responsible for providing the greater Wellington region with a Forensic, Coronial and Hospital Post Mortem service in partnership with Communio consortium.

We currently have an opening for fully qualified and registered Mortuary Technician. The position is full-time working within a small tight knit team Monday to Friday with 24/7 rostered on-call duties. Successful applicants will assist the Forensic Pathologist with a wide variety of post-mortem examinations from sudden natural deaths to suspicious deaths and homicides, as well as undertake other day-to-day operational duties.

The role is also responsible for return to patient services, body admissions and release, hospital post-mortems and the perinatal post-mortem service, including coronial perinatal services and family bereavement viewings.

Your previous experience working in a mortuary either in New Zealand or overseas will be comprehensive as will your knowledge of the day to day requirements of a busy forensic pathology department. You will be experienced in post-mortem photography, as well as assisting in homicide and suspicious death post-mortems.

Applicants shall be able to meet the requirements of the New Zealand Medical Laboratory Sciences Council as a medical laboratory scientist or a registered mortuary technician. A full driver's licence is required, as is the ability to be able to participate in an out-of-hours on call roster
