Gribbles Veterinary Pathology is New Zealand's leading provider of veterinary diagnostic services operating five laboratories nationwide. This fully equipped diagnostic laboratory performs a range of domestic and export testing, on behalf of private Veterinarians research organisations, government agencies, pharmaceutical companies and zoos.

We are currently on the hunt for a Laboratory Technician to work in our Biochemistry & Haematology departments.

You will be a passionate and driven individual, willing to learn and be a part of a fantastic team. We require a go-getter attitude with high attention to detail and someone who can be fast-paced to keep up with a busy diagnostic laboratory. About the role:

This is a full time, permanent position with rostered Saturday work required. The successful applicant must have a working knowledge of biochemistry or haematology. Medical or veterinary diagnostic experience is preferred but we can offer training for the right candidate and Cobas 6000 analyser, LC/GC MS or haematology experience would be a distinct advantage. You will be willing to learn new skills, work well alone and as part of a team. Extremely well organised, detail-oriented and friendly with a strong focus on quality and customer service. Must be accurate and self-sufficient to succeed in this role.

Essential skills and criteria:

  • Science qualification preferred or in process of completing a qualification
  • Ability to absorb, evaluate, and respond to information and ideas in a positive manner
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively within a laboratory
  • Great mathematics skills and a professional attitude
  • Ability to work well under pressure whilst working within a team
  • Safety and quality conscious
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and focus on daily work to meet turnaround times

A scientific and / or animal health background may be advantageous. The successful applicant needs to have a "hands-on" approach to their work due to the nature of the laboratory.
